SWSW

1st Friday of each month. Our SWSW Monthly Friday Social Night!

1st Sunday of each month. SWSW walk, a mix of morning walks in the winter and longer all day walks in the Summer.

3rd Tuesday of each month. SWSW Pub Quiz - we join the regulars at the Woolpack in Elstead.

3rd Sunday of each month. SWSW Figure of 8 walk.

All the highlighted items in the programme below are our own SWSW walks and social activities.

If you would like to offer a walk either during this programme or the next, either contact me (Stephen Colebrooke) or just turn up at one of our Monthly Friday Social meetings - we can also put you in touch with other walkers who may like to help you recce the walk.

When planning a figure of 8 or an all-day walk, in the morning, please allow 2 hours to do 5 miles, as we like to get to the pub not long after 12.00 noon to avoid the Sunday busy period. So if the morning walk is longer 5 miles, please specify an appropriate earlier start time.

Obviously if the walk is just a morning walk arrival time at the pub is not so important, and in fact quite a long morning walk with a late arrival at the pub for a leisurely lunch before going home is quite a good combination.

: Grid Ref: TQ 006 362 Nearest Postcode: GU8 4LJ : Start: Small public car park about 100 yards or so north of the Sun Inn.
09.00 am - (note very early start time)

Note owing to the nearby "Wings & Wheels airshow, that we are starting this walk as early as possible to avoid the crowds. If you can, avoid the main roads when driving to Dunsfold, as last year, all main routes were blocked by traffic queues from as early as 9.30. This year there seems to have been even more advertising of the event so the traffic could be even worse!

PLEASE NOTE: We will not be waiting for any latecomers, whatever the reason!

6 miles - Morning walk with a picnic lunch - bring sandwiches.
"an outstanding field and woodland walk around Dunsfold which passes through picturesque undulating scenery".
We hope to get to the Sun Inn for a drink around mid-day, and for those that want some spectacular entertainment (subject to weather and other considerations) after our drink we will be walking on for a further 15 minutes or so before stopping for our picnic lunch.
