Walking with SWSW

South West Surrey Walkers "SWSW" is an informal group who get together for walks twice monthly. We ask members to organise and guide walks. We do not have professional walk leaders, and each person participating in the walk is responsible for their own safety. New members are welcome but please read our information and guidelines before you join us for a walk.

Sunday 20th - around Chobham

Leader: Julie Daborne

Start: 10:00 AM

Our meeting place: Chobham Car Park (behind Chobham Rider - postcode GU24 8LZ)

Details: 5-6 miles on lesser used footpaths around Chobham. All paths are fairly level, sadly some parts might still be wet, even by May! There are quite a lot of stinging nettles, so shorts only for the brave! No dogs please - I will be taking Flo with me and we walk through sheep fields plus a few with horses in.

Lunch: Pubs in Chobham?

Leader: Amanda Burge

Start: 10:00 AM

Our meeting place: Friday Street car park. TQ125457. Postcode RH56JR

Details: 6.5 miles. Friday Street, Coldharbour and Leith Hill. Some short steep stretches but all worthwhile because of the beautiful views from Leith Hill. Likely to be muddy in places if it’s been wet, so sticks advisable. Café at Leith Hill is open for coffee and delicious cakes.

Lunch: To be arranged on the day.

Details: 6 mile walk commemorating the life of Octavia Hill, founder of the National Trust. On a clear day we will have beautiful views of the Kent Weald as we walk the countryside from Toys Hill to Chartwell. The walk involves hills, stiles and steps, mud at times and some road walking.

Lunch: We can decide the lunch venue on the day. There are pubs in nearby Westerham and also refreshments are available at Chartwell.
